BRUSSELS (MktNews) - Growth in the EU-15 economies is still solid, despite differences from country to country, and will probably be around 3% this year, President of the European Commission Romano Prodi said Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters here, Prodi said there is no reason for a major change in the Commission's autumn forecast of GDP this year of around 3% for the EU-15.
"I do still think it's realistic," he said. "There are deviations up and down in different countries but I still think we will be able to hit the previous forecasts."
He said the "general trend" among the EU-15 is still for solid, not declining, demand.
