LONDON (AFX) - UK car production fell 5.5 pct in the six months to February compared with the previous six months, and was down 18.6 pct on the same period a year earlier, according to the data from National Statistics.
In the latest six months, production allocated for exports fell 5.8 pct when compared with the previous six months, which left it 20.1 lower year-on-year. Car production for the domestic market fell 4.9 pct in the six months to February, leaving it 15.9 down on the same period a year earlier.
Total commercial vehicle production for the six months ending February was 11.7 pct down on the previous six months for an 8.3 pct year-on-year decline.
NS said car production in February stood at 129,000, representing a 19.8 pct decline year-on-year.
