The U.S. dollar fell against other major currencies in European trading Wednesday. Gold prices rose. The euro was quoted at $1.2946, up from $1.2886 late Tuesday. Other dollar rates: --104.62 Japanese yen, down from 105.14 --1.1909 Swiss francs, down from 1.1972 --1.2488 Canadian dollars, down from 1.2552 The British pound was quoted at $1.9008, up from $1.8908. Gold traded in London at $429.20 bid per troy ounce, up from $427.40 on Tuuesday. In Zurich the bid price was $429.05, up from $427.33 on Tuesday. Gold rose 10 U.S. cents an ounce in Hong Kong to close at $429.15.
