The U.S. dollar was mixed Friday morning against other major currencies in European trading. Gold prices rose. The euro was quoted at $1.2948, up from $1.2942 late Thursday. Other dollar rates compared with late rates Thursday included: 104.71 Japanese yen, up from 104.43; 1.1948 Swiss francs, down from 1.1958, and 1.2445 Canadian dollars, down from 1.2448. The British pound was quoted at $1.8975, down from $1.9049. Gold traded in London at $429.70 bid per troy ounce, up from $428.80 late Wednesday. In Zurich the bid price was $430.03, up from $428.85. Gold fell $1.50 an ounce in Hong Kong to $430.05.
