TOKYO (AFX) - The May current account surplus narrowed to 444.0 bln yen from 820.5 trln a year earlier, the Ministry of Finance said.
The ministry gave the following details, compared with figures from a year earlier:
Current a/c surplus - 444.0 bln yen vs 820.5 bln
Trade surplus - 252.1 bln yen vs 724.2 bln
Exports - 3.61 trln yen vs 3.70 trln
Imports - 3.36 trln yen vs 2.98 trln
Goods, service account deficit - 197.4 bln yen vs surplus 314.9 bln
Capital, financial account - outflow 1.04 trln yen vs outflow 1.82 trln
Local economists forecast that the May current account surplus will come in at 270-675 bln yen, with the consensus estimate being 455 bln yen.
