MADRID (AFX) - The current account deficit narrowed to 1.008 bln eur in April from 1.769 bln a year earlier, the Bank of Spain said. In a statement, the central bank said the trade deficit narrowed to 2.851 bln eur in April from 2.911 bln a year earlier, while transfers swung to a 391.0 mln eur surplus from a 125.12 mln deficit. The surplus in tourism widened to 2.127 bln eur from 1.924 bln, it said. In the four months to April 30, the Bank of Spain said the current account deficit narrowed to 3.679 bln eur from 4.924 bln a year earlier, while the trade deficit narrowed to 9.619 bln from 10.188 bln. It said the surplus in transfers increased to 2.636 bln eur from 2.004 bln, while the surplus in tourism widened to 7.755 bln from 6.856 bln.
