Tokyo, Sept. 17 (BridgeNews) - Consumer confidence deteriorated in August, hitting its worst level since the Nippon Research Institute (NRI) started compiling the data in April 1997, an NRI survey found. The Consumer Sentiment Index (CSI), which gauges living conditions among consumers, rose to 148. A larger CSI reading indicates consumers have more concerns about living conditions.
